a service to our website visitors, the Center for
International Community Health Studies (CICHS) has compiled an annotated
listing of resource links to organizations with common interests and values.
CICHS
has and continues to collaborate with these organizations to provide training
to health professionals and to conduct international
health research.
Institute for Community
Research (ICR)
The Institute for Community Research is an independent, nonprofit research
organization in Hartford, CT. The Institute conducts research in collaboration
with community partners to promote justice and equity in a diverse, multiethnic
and multicultural world.
Institute for Public Service International
(IPSI) at UConn
IPSI is the division of the Office of International Affairs
that offers professional programs in management for international development
at the University of Connecticut. In 1999, the training component of CICHS
was consolidated under the IPSI umbrella allowing the training programs
continued access to a wide range of health-related resources that enhances
the collaborative training experience.
International Center for Research on Women
(ICRW)
The International Center for Research on Women is a private nonprofit
organization founded in 1976 and based in Washington, D.C., with an office
in India. ICRW's work has three distinct dimensions: research, technical
support for capacity building, and advocacy.
International Institute for Population
Sciences
The International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS) is one
of the few Institutes set up solely for the purpose of studying demography.
Situated in Mumbai (Bombay), the IIPS
offers academic courses in Population Sciences and takes major initiatives
to strengthen the reproductive health, research and training programs.
Population Council
The Population Council is a nonprofit, nongovernmental international
research organization focused on biomedical, social science, and public
health research on problems related to reproductive health and population
growth. Members of CICHS work closely with the India office on a variety
of projects.
World Affairs Council of Connecticut
The World Affairs Council is a non-profit, non-partisan organization
which promotes public understanding of global affairs and world issues
by sponsoring programs, discussion series and seminars on international
politics, business and culture. The council and CICHS have jointly sponsored
a number of international health seminars.
