Faculty and Staff

The department consists of 20 full and part-time faculty, over 90 adjunct faculty with clinical or teaching appointments, and 30 dedicated research, administrative and professional staff members.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee, comprised of faculty representatives from the Department's various divisions, centers, and programs and department administrators advises the Department Chairman. The committee meets bi-monthly.

Full and Part-Time Faculty Members

The Department has 20 full and part-time faculty which report to the Chair, 10 additional faculty members with joint appointments in other departments within the University and a number of faculty with academic appointments in the department but are in administrative positions at the Health Center and report directly to the Dean.

Adjunct Faculty

The Graduate Program in Public Health, in particular, and other centers, units, and divisions within the department utilize the services of over 90 clinical and community-based adjunct faculty from outside the department and/or Health Center to teach or serve as preceptors to students. For information on contacting these individuals contact the particular area of the department who utilizes their services. If you know the individual works at the UConn Health Center, try searching the Health Center Employee Directory or if the individual's primary office is on the UConn-Storrs campus try using the UConn-Storrs phone book.

Staff

The department employs more than 30 dedicated professional research assistants, associates and administrative staff to support its research, teaching and service mission. For a complete listing of full and part-time staff members, please consult the staff directory.

DID YOU KNOW?
  • Almost 50% of the Department's faculty salaries are supported from extramural funding sources.
  • During 2004, departmental faculty authored 60 journal articies, book chapters, editorials, books and other scholarly publications.
  • The Department has two endowed chairs: Physicians Health Services Chair in Community Medicine and Public Health and the UConn Health Center Auxiliary/Joseph M. Healey, Jr. Chair in Medical Humanities and Bioethics.
  • Howard Tennen, Ph.D. was the first Board of Trustees Distinguished Professor to be named at the UConn Health Center.
